Finally committed to creating and finishing my animated short. Although this isn't "Teach A Man To Fish," it is going to help me get to a place where I can start figure out how I will create TAMTF.

This short will be based off of a poem in my father's book of poetry--Life in Angono. So hoping to have it finished this spring--if not sooner.

So with a little bit of encouragement from Pascal Campion, I started sketching in Flash. I have been complimenting him on his illustrations and keep asking how he finds the time. He says he just does!

So in the new year, I am going to try to keep up with some sketching. I am triple booked with work at the moment, but when things lighten up in March... I hope to make sketches like these a more regular occurrence.

I don't remember how long these took, but they are completely done in Flash.

Starting slow... no backgrounds yet... and focusing on the characters... There is definite Pascal influence. Looking forward to seeing how style develops...

So I was able to secure battlebeetle.com. That was the original name of the spybeetle. Looks like the previous owner didn't want to spend the moolah on it. I checked to see if it was available and viola... I own battlebeetle.com.

So at work... to keep some of the creative juices of our designers flowing we are given a topic where we can do anything we want. Some people come in with paintings, some with sculptures, photographs... whatever floats their boats. This is a non-work related topic so there is plenty of room for the mind to wander. This week's topic... The Princess and the Pea ...and what do ya know, I did an animation. From start to finish... concept, character design, animation, finding and incorporating sound effects, title screens... no storyboards--just went jumped right into flash... 10 hours... enjoy!

Flash Forward Conference 2007 Boston

So, Flash Forward was a great time. I had some of my graphics up for a Rich Shupe session--AS 3 for designers. Although it was way over my head still, I got a kick out of seeing my character up on big screen in front of a packed session.

I was able to hang out with some cool folks Chris Georgenes, Colin Smith, David Stiller, and tons of other Flashers. Check out Chris' photos... I look forward to next year where I hopefully will have my short ready for entry.

So Keyframer, Chris Georgenes, received an email from a buddy of his, Rich Shupe of FMA online. Rich needs graphics for the session he is running in Boston at Flash Forward. Rich's session is called 'ActionScript 3 for Designers'. This might be right up my alley. Chris sent some great words of recommendation to Rich Shupe about my skills and I ended up doing some graphics for Rich to use... It will be cool to see my work projected on the big screen...

I will be in Boston from the 19th-21st of September...
